Crime

Crime is the number one problem in our community. Our citizens do not feel safe.

This also affects the growth, and businesses will not locate to this area due to this problem.

Also, this affects the ability to attract and retain qualified candidates for our workforce.

Financial Concerns

The city will not have enough revenue coming in to offset the expenses after this year.

If they only pay for our financial commitments without spending money on other projects, the city will run a deficit.

This gets worse each year for the future. In five years the deficit will be $5,000,000 and by 2030 , it is projected to be $14,000,000.

This is based on the City of Killeen projection.

Airport

We have lost Delta.

This is a big financial impact to our community and to the airport revenue budget.

It will accelerate the shortfall and this will impact the financial stability of the city and add more to our deficits.

Economic Development

This organization needs to be restructured, have more accountability to our citizens and have some performance standards that they are measured by. We need to turn this into an engine for growth in our community and must bring new businesses in with higher paying jobs other than just retailing and telemarketing positions. We are in an excellent position with Fort Hood being next door. Companies come from all over the country to recruit here and hire our people. We need to have jobs locally so we can retain this high-level skilled workforce with good-paying jobs.

Infrastructure

Our roads continue to deteriorate in a lot of our areas. We must get serious about a plan to take care of this problem. The longer we wait and the more they deteriorate, this will increase the overall cost. We need to elect candidates who understand business and make sound decisions that will correct the course for our city and ensure that we turn deficit into positive growth for our community.
